Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is a clinical syndrome that causes pelvic pain and pelvic pain in women.
In general, the condition is caused by infection of the pelvic organs of the woman, the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and the peritoneum (the membrane that covers the abdominal cavity) (1).

What happens normally is that the bacteria invade the vagina to cause an infection. Over time, the infection can spread to the pelvic organs (including the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries) and beyond repairing pelvic organ lesions.
Acute EPI appears suddenly and is often worse, while chronic PID is a second-category infection that can only cause mild pain and sometimes pain.
Causes of PID
The main cause of PID is bacteria.
Normally, the cervix should prevent bacteria entering the vagina from spreading to the pelvic organs.
However, if the cervix is exposed to certain bacteria, including the same ones that cause sexually transmitted diseases (STD), gonorrhea and Chlamydia, the cervix is infected and does not perform its work to prevent bacteria from entering the pelvic organs.
An inflammatory pelvic disease occurs when bacteria move freely from the vagina through the cervix into the genital tract.
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
About 25% of PID cases are caused by STI, especially chlamydia and gonorrhea.
PID, which is caused by chlamydia, is most common and often has no symptoms, making diagnosis difficult.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV):
This is one of the main causes of vaginal infections, popularly known as toilet infections in Nigeria.
Bacterial vaginosis is a situation where the good bacteria in the lower vagina and not the bad bacteria in the vagina have to be balanced. When this happens, bad bacteria can spread to the uterus and fallopian tubes and cause PID.
If there is an infection in the vagina or cervix that is infected, the onset of an IUD can cause the time PID.
Risk factors for pelvic inflammatory disease
Any woman can have an AIP, but it is more likely if you:
• have more than one sexual partner
• have a new sexual partner
• Sex without a condom
• are showers
• have a history of STIs
• had a DIP in the past
• are under 25 years old
• Have sex at a young age
Symptoms of pelvic inflammation
Some women with inflammatory pelvic disease have no symptoms. For women who have symptoms, these can include:
• dull pain and cramps or constant pain in the lower abdomen (most common symptom). This pain can worsen during defecation, urination or sex.
• Low back pain, sometimes extending on one or both legs.
• ample periods / painful periods
• painful sex
• burning or pain when urinating.
• bleeding after intercourse and between menstrual periods (irregular menstrual bleeding)
• increased, bad odor or unusual discharge, especially yellow, brown or green discharge
• Pressure in the pelvis
Natural remedies for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Diet, rich in calcium and antioxidants
A healthy, nutritious diet is the first step in helping your body recover from bacterial infections that cause PID.
They must eat foods that are high in calcium, such as dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale, broccoli, beans and almonds (9). Dairy products and milk are usually the best sources of calcium, but you may need to rely on plant sources if you are allergic to them.
Antioxidant-rich foods such as blueberries, cherries, tomatoes, squash and peppers also contribute to the recovery process because of their anti-inflammatory properties (10). You can access a variety of antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, selenium and carotenoids (such as beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin) by consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables (11). ,
Baking powder for PID treatment
Sodium bicarbonate, also known as sodium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate, is one with alkaline antimicrobial properties that can protect the body from infections that are effective in the natural treatment of inflammatory pelvic diseases.

Garlic has long been known for its antibacterial properties and is an effective home remedy for the treatment of vaginal discharge caused by bacteria and vaginitis. It is also an effective home remedy for pelvic inflammatory disease. (22)
For the treatment of PSA, you can consume one or two cloves of garlic in the morning on an empty stomach with a glass of water. Or you can add as much garlic as possible to your kitchen.
Garlic, lemon and thyme tea for PID treatment
Garlic is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent, thyme is a deadly germ and fights bacterial and fungal infections, while lemon is effective against various forms of infection, internal bleeding and inflammation. amongst other things.
Chop 5 cloves of garlic, squeeze the juice of a fresh lemon and add a handful of thyme leaves. Put everything in a teapot, add 2 cups of water and cook. Drink this tea two to three times a day for two weeks.
Castor oil packs
Castor oil packs are effective in reducing inflammation, cramping and pain. For more efficiency, use castor oil for 3 consecutive days, then take one day off before proceeding.
All you have to do is moisten a piece of cloth with castor oil and put it on your stomach. Place a heating pad for 30 minutes (or for 3 hours if you do not use a heating pad) after covering the fabric with Saran Cladding. It is not recommended to use castor oil packs for more than three consecutive days, so you should stop treatment for one day before taking this home remedy.
Make sure you do not have sex until you have finished your treatment. If necessary, you should use a condom. Otherwise, there is a risk that the infection will return.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is one of the best for this condition.
Since high doses of antioxidant supplements are associated with health risks and may interact with certain drugs, it would be preferable to obtain antioxidants from natural substances (12). However, if you can not absorb enough nutrients from your diet, you must rely on a daily multivitamin containing vitamins A, B complex, C, E and small amounts of minerals like magnesium, calcium, zinc. and selenium.
Grapefruit seed oil (Citrus paradisi)
Taking a capsule containing 100 mg of grapefruit seed oil per day (or 5 to 10 drops of liquid in your favorite beverage) will help strengthen the immune system and fight inflammation with antibacterial properties (15).
Green tea (Camellia sinensis)
It can benefit from the antioxidant properties of green tea, which consumes a standardized 250 to 500 mg of daily tea or extracts extracted from green tea leaves (16).

Take a spoonful of turmeric powder and simmer the powder in some milk. Drink at least one drink a day.
A contrasting hip bath is an effective way of reducing PID symptoms. While the hot bath helps to relax the pelvic muscles, the cold bath helps ease the pain.
1. Fill two large tanks, one with hot water and the other with cold water.
2. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to each and mix well.
3. First sit in the tub with warm water for 3 minutes to the waist.
4. Next, sit in the tub for 1 minute with cold water at the waist.
5. Repeat this several times and finish the session with cold water.
6. Enjoy a sitz bath several times a week.
Probiotic yoghurt with live cultures (good bacteria) is an excellent remedy for this bacterial infection. The good bacteria in this yogurt will help fight the bad bacteria and restore the good bacteria in your vagina. It also helps to maintain a healthy balance of vaginal pH.
• Apply ½ cup of probiotic yoghurt to your vulva and vagina. Wait a few hours and then rinse with cold water. Use this remedy once a day for a few weeks.
• Eat 2 to 3 cups of natural yoghurt daily.

Food rich in beta-carotene:
Beta-carotene acts on the damaged mucous membranes of the reproductive system and heals them quickly. It also plays an important role in preventing new infections by strengthening the cells of the cervix. This means that for women with pelvic inflammatory disease, beta-carotene is especially helpful, including the foods that are included in your diet. Carrots, pumpkins, spinach and sweet potatoes are some examples of foods that contain a good dose of beta-carotene.
Supplements to PID treatment
A daily dose of multivitamins with a good amount of antioxidants like vitamins A, B, C and E complex with essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc and selenium is needed.
Omega-3 fatty acid
